KANSAS CITY, (February 5, 2007) - The world's top-ranked doubles team of Mike and Bob Bryan return to Kansas City on July 14 when the Kansas City Explorers host the Houston Wranglers in World TeamTennis action. The Explorers released their 2007 regular season schedule today for the WTT Pro League presented by Advanta. The schedule includes seven home matches at Barney Allis Plaza in downtown Kansas City.The Explorers, who exercised their option to protect their rights to the Bryans, open their 2007 with a home match on Friday, July 6, against the Wranglers. All home matches are scheduled to begin at 7:35 p.m. CST, except for the Sunday matches which will start at 6:05 p.m. CST. Season tickets are on sale now through the Explorers office at 816-513-5630.
"This is a great schedule for our fans," said Explorers General Manager Jeff Launius. "Five of our matches are on weekends in one of the best sports venues in Kansas City, and our fans get to see the best doubles team in the world playing for our team. It's early in the year but we've already got a great feeling about our success this season."
Kansas City will also play on the road seven times during the season, which runs July 5-25. The top two teams from both the Eastern and Western Conference advance to the WTT Championship Weekend, July 27-29, in Roseville, Calif., to compete for the WTT Championship. The Explorers are in the Western Conference along with the Springfield Lasers, St. Louis Aces, Houston Wranglers, Sacramento Capitals and Newport Beach Breakers.
The remainder of the 2007 team will be selected March 27 at the WTT Player Draft in Miami.
