2009 Explorers tickets now available; team announces promotional schedule
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 20, 2009) --- The Kansas City Explorers individual tickets for the 2009 home season are now available online and by phone.
“We have an exciting season this year as we challenge the best talent in the league,” said General Manager Jeff Launius. The Explorers will take on the 2008 WTT Champions as well as all the teams that appeared in the 2008 playoffs. “We are bringing a caliber of tennis to the court that Kansas City has never seen before.”
“Our goal this season is to give our fans an experience unlike any other tennis match they’ve seen,” said Launius. “We are introducing new hospitality amenities and special nightly promotions.” The 2009 home season will kick off on July 2 with a salute to the Uniformed Services members and their families. All veterans and uniformed services members (military-active, reserve, guard, retired; fire; police) and their families may purchase grandstand seats for only $15 each, regularly $25 each.
On Tuesday, July 7 the Explorers return home for a five-match home stand as they take on Ramon Delgado and the Newport Beach Breakers. Bring non-perishable food items to support the Kansas City Community Kitchen and receive $10 off the purchase of an adult grandstand seat at the gate.
Ladies are invited to a special Ladies Night on Friday, July 10. Ladies may purchase grandstand seats for only $20 each and receive an invitation to a private wine tasting hosted by Les Bourgeois Winery and the opportunity to win spa packages from the Argosy Spa. All other ticket holders may attend the wine tasting for a $5 donation, proceeds benefiting the Kansas City Community Kitchen. The first 500 ladies will also receive a rose courtesy of HenHouse Markets and a $25 gift card to Eskew’s Fine Jewelers.
Sports Radio 810 will host a Night with the Explorers on Saturday, July 11. Sports Radio 810 listeners may purchase grandstand seats for only $15 each. The station will host a variety of pre-match activities for Explorers fans.
The Explorers are teaming up with Radio Disney and the USTA Missouri Valley section on Sunday, July 12 for Family Fun Night with the Explorers. All grandstand seats are priced at only $11.90 each. The Explorers are closing off 13th Street for kids to grab a racquet and play a game of QuickStart Tennis. Radio Disney’s Rockin’ Road Crew will be on site, playing games and giving away prizes before the match. The first 500 kids (14 and under) will receive a pass to Schlitterbahn water park.
On Tuesday, July 12 Miller Lite presents Guys’ Night Out. Male Explorers fan may purchase grandstand seats for only $15 each. Drink specials will be available during the pre-match activities and during the match. Fans can also bring non-perishable food items to support the Kansas City Community Kitchen and receive $10 off the purchase of an adult grandstand seat at the gate.
The Explorers close their home season on July 18th as the No. 1 men’s doubles team in the world, Bob and Mike Bryan, join the team for their fifth season. “Having the Bryans play for our home closer will help us finish our home season on a high note,” said Launius.

All Explorers home matches are played at the M&I Bank Stadium, located on Barney Allis Plaza in downtown Kansas City. Matches will begin at 7:35 p.m. except the Sunday, July 12th match, which will begin at 6:35 p.m.
