Bryan Brothers Capture Second Barcelona Title

Top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan captured their secont title in Barcelona after defeating seventh seeds Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski, 6-2, 6-3, in the final of the Open Sabadell Atlantico on Sunday.

The American twins made 71% first serves and converted three of five break points, winning 11 points more than their rivals overall in the 50 minute match.

"We were down match point in the first round and after that we played without pressure," said Mike Bryan afterwards. "We won two really tough match tie-breaks.  It was kind of an up and down week.  But I think that we played our best match in the final today."

World No. 1 pairing Bob and Mike Bryan also lifted the trophy in Barcelona on their only previous event appearance in 2003.  The title is their second of the season, and the 46th of their career.

The field in Barcelona included nine of the top ten doubles teams in the world, making the win extra special for the Bryans. "Obviously it's been a great field here this week," said Bob Bryan. "It was almost like a Masters Series and being on top of it is great."

The 30-year-olds now improve to 28-8 for the season.  They won their first title of the campaign last month at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami (d. Bhupathi/Knowles), having finished runners-up in Sydney, Delray Beach, San Jose and Las Vegas earlier in the season.  Excepted from the ATP Tennis WEB Site.
